William Fisher family

So....have just found out William Fisher, brother of John Raven Fisher,  and Jane Helen Brown's grand daughter who is still living in Stawell aged 81!  As far as I know she is the only living descendant so hopefully she may have photos.  Her grandmother Jane Helen Fisher is buried close by at Brighton Cemetery.  As to William Fisher, I think he died before Jane and daughter Hannah Mina came out to Victoria.  But Hannah's surviving brothers in 1930 are missing in action - Sandwith, Stanley and Dickinson.  Not sure it they came out to Australia?  Haven't found them back in the UK...maybe they went to South Africa to join other Fisher relatives...

  1. From notes from Dorothy Wathen
"The ship mother [Hannah Fisher] came to Australia was SS Cornwall. The captain was Captain Howell. Left Liverpool 29 March 1911, arrived in Melbourne 22 May 1911."

At PROV Vic Index to Unassisted Inward Passenger Lists to Victoria 1852-1923 I found a listing for Miss N Fisher aged 20 on the Cornwall but no other Fisher's are listed on that voyage. So when did her mother Jane Fisher arrive?

"Mother's home address in England was San Remo, Ash Grove, The Greave Lancaster and was sold 9 October 1911."
This address is consistent with the 1911 Census information which lists Jane (widowed) and son Stanley at that address.

"Miss H M Fisher played the piano for the church services of a Sunday on the voyage to Australia".

"Mum's mother was Jane Helen Fisher.
Mother's brother's were Stanley address Purley Surrey
Sandwith few years in South Africa, then to America (Idaho)
Dickenson eventually to Gisborne New Zealand"
Need to do some looking then in South Africa, America, and New Zealand!

"I think Mum's father William Fisher is buried in Morcambe (can't find the card now)"
I have found a death registration for a William Fisher in Morecambe Lancshire in 1901 but haven't seen the certificate. Jane is listed as a widow in the 1901 census with Stanley, Dickenson and Hannah.

"Mum's mother Jane Helen Fisher when she came to Australia (1912), she lived with Joseph Fisher at Hazelholm, 169 Cochrane Street Elsternwick. Mother [Hannah] lived with (not sure) John Fisher an uncle. Joseph was an uncle also".
I can find Jane Fisher living at this address from 1919 to 1924 in the electoral rolls and at her death in 1930. Hannah is there in 1914. There is a Joseph Fisher builder also in Cochrane Street Elsternwick in 1919.
